Signs of Good Quality Dress Shoes

When it comes to dress shoes, quality matters. Not only do good quality dress shoes look better, but they also last longer and provide more comfort. That’s why it’s important to find a shoe that’s high-quality, comfortable, and good looking. A bad quality pair will look fine for six months before falling apart. But how can you tell if a pair of dress shoes is of good quality? Here are some signs to look for:

  1. Leather:

Good quality dress shoes are usually made of leather. Leather is a durable material that looks great and ages well. Not all leather is equal though. High quality leather is called full grain leather. It is not sanded and has a more premium look than other types of leather. Try looking for this leather when buying your next pair of dress shoes.
  1. Construction quality:

Good quality dress shoes should have a solid construction. Look for shoes that are well-stitched, with no loose threads or gaps. A high-quality pair of dress shoes should have the sole of the shoe stitched, not glued. The stitching will be often visible on the underside. If the stitching looks ragged or uneven, that’s a sign of poorly made dress shoes
  1. Comfort:

Good quality dress shoes should be comfortable to wear. Look for shoes with soft, cushioned insoles and good arch support. Leather soles will become soft and flexible overtime. The more layers in the sole, the better. For example, a triple-leather sole will last for years compared to a single-leather sole that will probably wear much quicker.
  1. Price:

More expensive does not equal higher quality. A high price may sometimes be related to a high-quality product, but that’s not always the case. Always check what materials were used to manufacture the pair of dress shoes you are buying. If there are not high-quality materials used, then it is not worth the money.
